Switch easy has a nice hybrid of the hard/soft cases
The Incase Slider builds an external battery into the case, doubling the battery life.
I have had the Capsule Rebel since the 3G came out. It has more then stood up the the harsh beating I have given it, including sliding face first across pavement, being dropped on tile, and much more, all without so much as a scuff on my phone. Best $25 case around if you ask me.
I used the capsule rebel for a while but it started to sag at the bottom after taking it off about twice a week to clean the iphone. Since then I bought an incase slider and it's great. I like the feel better than my capsule rebel and it's pretty stylish as well.
iLounge has a huge list of in depth reviews for everything made for iphone that is worth reviewing and even some things that were not. If I ever consider purchasing anything for my iphone/ ipod I always check here first.
I have had a Switcheasy Capsule Rebel for a very long time and my phone in nearly flawless underneath. It's not all rubber plastic so it slides out of my pocket but it also provides grip. The only knock I have is that it adds some bulk but other than that I don't think you can get better protection. It's not overpriced and got a great review on ilounge.
I've always found this to be the one I return to trying over 10. http://retail.contourdesign.com/?/products/49
Its the only one that contours the phone and almost does not compromise the design of the iPhone which one of the reasons people love it...
I like the flick bottom so you can dock it with many accessories with out having to take the case off which is the cast for most cases :)
Bump on the VAJA → VAJA. They're fantastic cases. The ability to customize so many of their products, from billfolds to laptop sleeves, to messenger bags and more, is pretty rad. Plus, the fit is second to none and they hold up pretty well. Working on a new case for my Bold now, just trying to pick some new colors.

No case. This was a habit I had to break as well but half the fun of the iPhone are it's beautiful lines.
Honestly, anyone with any kind of case on a phone these days looks kind of dorky.
(I'm sorry guys, it's true, look at how many girls use cases; none. And I've used cases for iPhone too, you just have to accept that it doesn't work.)
