I've always believed in the One Week Rule. Any time you know there is a big event coming up, have the barber cut your hair just a little shorter than you'd like. This will give it a week to grow out of the straight lines and into the style you actually want.
You may have to trial-and-error the one week timeframe, depending on how fast your hair grows.
Good luck and congrats!
I'm preparing for my wedding in October and have asked myself the same question. I think it really comes down to how fast your hair grows - for me, a week or so should be sufficient to soften the appearance of any imperfect cuts and get rid of that 'just cut' look, but your mileage may vary.
My recommendation would be to do a trial run sometime before your big day, so you can get a feel for how long it takes before your hair is how you'd like it to look in all those photos.

Honestly guys, get it cut a few days before your wedding. Tell your barber/stylist (assuming your not going to Great Clips) that you are getting married and they can make you clean. Get the fuzz on the back of your neck, trim around your ears and even show you how to style it. I was married on a Friday eve and went in Friday afternoon and had it styled. Really paid off in all the pictures, but didn't matter because my wife is gorgeous.
Just use a Gillette Fusion and shave your head. No hair to style == no worries!
1-2 weeks before should be good. My hair always looks better after it has grown out a little after getting my hair cut.
Four days - do it.
Don't go into the barber with a negative mindset - then you're projecting that stuff into the ether - and who knows if she picks it up from the ether and by accidently messes it up - keep it positive. Ether out.

I think 2 weeks is a good amount of time. If you do it too soon, like you said, you'll look a little too clean cut. If it happens to be a touch too short, 2 weeks will give it a little time to grow out.
