I'm the best man in an upcoming wedding. Is it acceptable to just get the groom a gift? Or do I need to get something for the bride as well?

If you feel compelled to get the groom a gift then do so, but you should absolutely get a gift for the couple as you would if you were attending any other wedding.
Often the Best Man does not so much as give the groom a gift as perform other services to him, such as performing as his go-to guy during the day of the wedding and throwing the bachelor party.

I'm guessing you already have a gift to give to the new couple. If you are asking about a gift for just the Groom? Well then that's already taken care of with the services you provide.

My bestman took care of arranging for my bachelor party (provided him home and arranged the entertainment) as well as playing gopher on the wedding day. He held the tip money for the limo, DJ, and wedding hall and took care of that for me. Sure I provided the money but he took care of all the responsibilities and ended up coming through for everything.

The link below is a list of all that is expected of you. Don't worry about a gift to the groom other than the wedding gift you have planned. Chances are he'll have a gift for you for all the work you'll be doing.
