What is the best hand-held vac for cleaning my car?
It needs good suction, and preferably an attachment that can fit between seat and door-sill and/or seat and center console.

I've been wanting to know this myself- and the Metro Vac looks awesome, but 300+? If you're willing to pay that much, the Dyson DC31 Handheld looks a bit fancier and practical. The metro vac may have the precision add ons, but the dyson is an all in one cordless setup.
Any generic shopvac will suck harder than all of those handheld junkers.
Just get a rolling shopvac with a long enough cord so you can get it to both sides of the car. Then pick up a nice 15-20 foot extension hose for the vacuum and then you can reach whatever you need in the car.
I Agree with Elliott, The Dyson DC31 is what the Dyson Engineers use to clean up after on-sight repairs.
I got to play with it and was surprised by the power that this was able to achieve with it's small design.
The Dyson is a fantastic Hand-Vac. It has a nice pointed attachment that can help get in the corners and crevices and it's cordless. It, also works well in the home because it's very powerful; so it serves a dual purpose.
I checked out the Dyson handheld, and it turns out that it has a terrible battery life. You'll get maybe 7 minutes of use out of it before you need to recharge it.
If you can afford the space, go with a shop-vac plus a car-detailing accessory kit, which will come with all of the necessary attachments for cleaning every nook and cranny inside the car. Some shop-vacs can also be wall-mounted in your garage, meaning it will be up off the floor and out of your way, but readily accessible.
