What is the best way to hide cables from a wall-mounted LCD TV? I'm a renter and cannot wire through the walls.
If you can put the holes in the wall for a LCD panel you should be able to put a 3/8" hole to run a couple cables. However, if that still isn't the case you can pick up this Cord Cover Kit . They're easy to install and you can paint them to match walls when finished.
If you have the cash and room for it, I'd recommend going with a TV stand that has a dedicated back panel designed for mounting. This solution retains the "floating" look of a wall-mounted unit, but keeps you from having to drill into a wall and repair it when you move out.
Ikea has one, the BENNO $139; if you're looking for something a little more substantial, check out the Loop Media Center from Crate and Barrel - it's currently on sale for $500.
I bought and used the CMK MIMI from OmniMount. They offer different sizes depending on how many cables you need to hide. It was a cinch to install and provides a nice smooth cover versus a large hump or blocky moulding. You won't even notice them after painting it to match the walls.
To respond to jtmallory7v's answer, running cables through your wall can be a violation of fire code in most municipalities. It's also grounds for your home insurance to deny a claim if your house catches on fire.
If you need to run it through the wall, you should install junction boxes and run conduit between.
