I know what you mean about your hair looking natural; I spike my hair up in the front but prefer it simply looking held up instead of the wet look you get from using product. It took a while for me to find a gel that worked for me, but I think you'll like Shwarzkopf's got2b Spiked-Up Max Control Styling Gel. It's cheap, you don't need that much and it allows you to style your hair how you see fit, but once dry achieves that natural look you like. Plus, the hold is strong enough so that you can accustom your hair to the style you wear, while flexible enough to allow experimentation.
Try Gillette Flex Gel. It controls hair, without stiffness, leaving it touchable and flexible. http://www.gillette.com/en-us/#/products/haircare/en-US/index.shtml/
I'd go with a hair styling aid that gives a light hold and some versatility. You could go with a lot of different choices. I think the best would be Grooming Lounge Some Hair Cream Grooming Lounge Some Hair Cream or (Malin + Goetz) Sage Styling Cream (Malin + Goetz) Sage Styling Cream
I like Schwarzkopf OSIS Dust It powder.
Put a little bit in your hand, mess it up into your hair, and it's good to go.

Shu Uemura shape paste ($30) gives a light hold that doesn't leave your hair looking greasy. I love that when I use it, I can push my hair out of my face and it will actually stay that way. It's also water-soluble so it will come out without a fuss in the shower, and will usually wear down nicely by the end of the day. For a nice, no-really-my-hair-is-this-awesome-naturally look, this stuff is awesome.
The one thing I will say is that for longer hair, it doesn't hold too well.

I would recommend Bumble & Bumble SumoTech. It's a nice dry wax that doesn't leave a shine and is pliable throughout the day. For a cheaper route you can use Murray's Pomade, which is a classic but does the job.
