I would highly recommend Zuca PRO , it is by far the best out there in travel gear for packing light for trips that if you follow their packing instructions upto 5 days. The best thing is that if there are no seats at the airport, bus stop, etc., you can use it as a seat as well. Check it out.
I have found bags at Marshalls that are designer brand names on the cheap. My 3 and 5 day carry on is from ebags, it is a timberline roller with room to fit 3 or 4 shirts or a suit and 2 shirts + other stuff. I got it from www.ebags.com for about $120 and it has been a trooper for the past 4 years.
Costco. Get a Ricardo. Great quality and a good price. Invest in a bag that you can carry on but still has many compartments inside. You will get tired of checking luggage.
I've been using a Patagonia Lightwire Brief for a few months. It works great for 1-2 day trips.
I agree with others here that price is subjective. I'd say its worth investing in a bag that will last you a lot longer. I'm a contractor and travel every week for work and I love my Crumpler Bags. They built extremely well and they have a younger feel to them. You don't want to be one of the faceless business travels with the same beat up black suitcase.
They're a tad on the pricey side, but I've traveled for 3 years with my Period Charmer:https://www.crumplerbags.com/flash/flash.aspx#/english/product-details/period-charmer-pc03a.html and the older version of the Beer Back:https://www.crumplerbags.com/flash/flash.aspx#/english/product-details/beer-back-bb11a.html and they still look good and still work like new. I don't think I'd buy anything else.
I recently bought a Fossil Nevada duffel for a classy casual short travel bag. It's relatively inexpensive and is mostly canvas with nice leather accents. Keeps the price down and personally I think an all leather duffel bag looks like a leather baseball cap, tacky. Plus canvas looks nice with wear.
PLEASE check out goincase.com . They have a great assortment of different bags. they have overnight bags, shoulder bags, and backpacks. I own 3 different bags from them and the quality is SO high on all of them. faux fur laptop sleeve lining is a plus too. not a gimmick
personally i love the battenkill duffle
sold at orvis.com.. the medium bag will hold anything you would need for at least 3-4 days and the style and durability cant be beat..
