The knee-jerk reaction to the idea of a guy getting a spray-tan is understandably, “Never!!!!” They look too fake and make a guy seem insecure. However, like most things in life, with a bit of moderation the results can be satisfactory. First thing you need to do is examine your skin tone. Guys who have light features sometimes have a ruddy skin tone. This is a nice healthy look and you should think twice before artificial tans. But, sometimes a guy has a grayish skin tone or pasty skin tone. (Think of the old guy who wears black dress socks with his sandals and shorts and sports bright-white-pasty legs.) If you’re cursed with this type of skin tone, you might benefit from a tan. Given the skin cancer risk from tanning beds, an artificial tanner can be helpful. First, skip the spray-on tan and get a lotion which contains a tanning agent. Make sure you buy a product that is made for light skin tones. The idea is to get your skin looking healthy – not overly tan and the darker skin tone versions will not look good on you! Also, pick up some latex gloves to wear while applying the lotion/tanner so your palms do not turn orange. Shower first and use a shower brush to really scrub your skin. Towel off, let your skin dry and then apply the lotion to your legs, arms, etc. You want the lotion to dry in a few minutes, so don’t cake it on. These lotions with tanner work over many days applications, building up the color day by day. Repeat this process the next day, taking care not to re-apply to areas like knees and elbows which tan more quickly, than other parts. On the third day, you should have a very light “tan” which looks healthy and not overly dark or out of place. Stop there and wait until this light tan begins to fade before starting the process over again. Again, don’t overdo it. You want women to notice that you look “healthy” and “fit” looking, but not quite sure of the reason, rather than be shocked at how dark “tan” you’ve suddenly become.
I'm a fair-skinned guy and I wouldn't dream of getting one. Just live with what you've got.
It is never acceptable for a man to have a spray on tan. Ever.
It's not acceptable for ANYONE to get a spray on tan.
Only if it's to win a bet. And you'd better be winning something good.
No it's not and i'm of nordic bloodlines and pretty pale myself but i indulge in my whiteness
No. For fear of looking like these gents
In fairness, the dudes in that picture were using tanner that professional body-builders use right before competitions. It's not intended for normal, fake'n'bake tanning.
That being said, spray-on tans look ugly and regular tanning gives you skin like leather and skin-cancer.
Rock the whiter shade of pale.
If you want to get tan get it the real way: Staying out in the sun.
My girlfriend spray tans often and she is pale, and you honestly can't tell it's "fake" and looks great. But she doesn't do the ones at tanning beds, she gets the airbrush where someone actually does it for you. I wouldn't necessarily suggest it for men, though.

ok so I would never get a spray on tan, but I am a light skinned dude and burn before I tan and have already had two moles removed that were pre-cancerous, so just going out in the sun to get a little color isn't the best advice. So just to not blind people when I de-shirt with my glorious whiteness, I use a little lotion to give a little color. Especially when I am next to my darkly tanned wife, which makes me look even more lame.
This is what I use:
i think the answer is no, but its a personal choice. ask yourself "would i make fun of one of my buddy's for this" that's your answer.

Even Smith's above link should end all debate!! Check it out. Both hilarious and sooo scary.
if your insecurity level is so high that you need to go to a website and ask an unknown number of people (who do not know you) if you should use a spray on tan -- you got way more problems than light skin color
