I used to work at a Costco and once in a while I had to venture into the freezer. I had a pair of thinner Mechanix gloves that I liked a lot. The glove material was thin enough to be very flexible but thick enough to help me survive an hour or two in the deep freeze. They also sell thicker versions here

Under Armour gloves are the best bang for your buck in my opinion. While I couldn't find the ones I had on the website, go to any local sporting goods store and they should have them ($20-30). They kept my hands warm during the fitness camp I attended, when I was running in 5 degree weather with the wind blowing!
I have always been searching for a waterproof, durable outdoor glove and I finally found a pair. Youngstown Equipment makes several different models but their Winter Plus Waterproof Gloves are simply the best I have seen for dexterity and warmth at the same time. PalmFlex has them right now for $26.99.

I second the Mechanix gloves BIG TIME. I'm a Land Surveyor in Northern Canada and have to be able to write, and most importantly: operate the Total Station (which has very small rubber buttons) I used those gloves for 8 hours a day with no problems what-so-ever. It may be of note that i keep a pair of backup mitts in my back pocket made of polar bear hide by the Metis Inuits, but I rarely use them while working.

cold weather work gloves
Duluth Trading offers a few other "cold weather" gloves as well. This is the pair I own and they are my go-to winter gloves for any outdoor work requiring dexterity. Duluth makes good stuff and their warranty is great.
