"You are always safe with leather and dress shoes. You can even occasionally get away with low profile “tennis shoes” as long as they are solid black (including the laces) if they look dressy enough and don’t have any huge logos on them. Pumas and basketball shoes won’t work anywhere.
Thanks,
I'm looking for something that looks more like a sneaker. the only pair I've seen are the Nike Gilde

Are you looking for a slip-on or does it not matter? I assume you're looking for more of an oxford-style shoe than a sneaker.
Personally, I'd recommend anything by Clarks
They have some very stylish oxfords and slip-ons, plus they're made for durability and comfort. They're subtle, but stylish.
If you want to stay in the sneaker community, Puma makes some really slick stylish shoes. Check out their Black Label line of shoes.
I actually disagree with the puma statement from Troy.

Take a look at Hugo Boss shoes. I got a pair from their "black" collection. The quality is superb to any Nike, Adidas or Puma shoes. And as long as you stick to leather shoes, you shouldn't have problems with getting into night clubs.
I wear Diesel shoes everywhere I go. Sneaker style with laces. I went all through Europe and had no trouble. Diesel shoes

Timberland makes a chucka boot that feels like a pair of Vans, but look good enough to wear to work. I've got the black ones, and they go well with nice jeans or a pair of chinos.
