What are some black sneakers that look good with shorts?
Preferably a pair that won't make you look like a 14 year old skater.
Try the company lakai, it is a skate brand but some of their low shoes look terrific with shorts. Look for the Lakai Select series i have these

New Balance makes a great shoe, that is very low priced, and will last through years of everyday abuse.
PF Flyers makes some classic shoes that go good with shorts. I would check out their Number 5

It's difficult to go wrong with Adidas Sambas - they're comfortable, classic, and decidedly versatile. You can pair these with a pair of cargo shorts, or dress them up and wear them with a black suit (worn casually, of course, and sans socks.)
If you prefer the light weight and breathability of canvas, Tretorn makes an excellent pair of black canvas sneaks, a dressier, upscale alternative to those beat-up Chuck Taylors in your closet.
Check out Goliath. They make great shoes - you'll look more stylish than the follow-me-I-wear-Converse-All-Star's-crowd, but maintain a superbly classic, retro look.

SI Assault Shoe by Oakley
It's rugged, and a good shoe. I wore them nearly every day for a while.
