I want to get back into learning how to play the guitar. What are some great resources online to do so?
I recommend YouTube, as well. It is probably the best FREE resource available. Don't pay for any lesson site because you can find everything they teach elsewhere.
Guitar World offers plenty of their archived videos from the magazine for free! They include riffs, popular songs, special guest lessons, reviews, etc. I learned alot from reading their magazines.
Also, Dave Weiner (rhythm guitarist for guitar virtuoso, Steve Vai) has a site that is updated weekly with tremendous lessons, tabs, and info. It also features a backing tracks jukebox to jam along with! And if you must have a teacher, Dave offers one-on-one lessons via Skype or iChat at reasonable rates.
There are plenty of great online resources (YouTube, for example), but it's important to supplement them with an in-person tutor.
Poor technique can lead to physical discomfort, which will take some enjoyment from playing. On the other hand, good technique will help you progress much more swiftly as a player.
An online course can illustrate great technique, but it can't tell if you're bending your left wrist too much, and it can't see if your thumb is too stiff.
Consider a flesh-and-blood tutor for at least a few lessons, to make sure your technique isn't getting in the way of your learning. Check back in with them periodically.
Lessons are cheap, and there are thousands of starving guitarists who could use a few bucks!
I like Justin Guitars:http://www.justinguitar.com/
He has a bunch of nicely done youtube videos of chord lessons, songs, and everything else.

Ultimate Guitar is an awesome site for tabs, instructions and discussions.
Next Level Guitar Youtube channel is IMO the best there is when it comes to guitar lesson vids.
