Old Spice Classic Body Wash has never done anyone wrong. The smell is pleasant and distinctive, but not overpowering (I get complimented on it frequently.) There's no need to spend $ on Italian shower gel when $5 will do the same thing, if not better - Old Spice was originally issued to American G.Is in the Korean War, and if it was good enough for them, it's good enough for you.
Pair your new body wash with an Axe Detailer Shower Tool - oddly enough, this thing actually resembles a car detailing tool. The two halves will clean you up nicely - the 'scrub' side is just that, perfect for the dirtiest, roughest spots that need clean-up, while the mesh side works up a nice lather and is suitable for more 'sensitive' regions.
As much as I'd Love to agree with Richard, not all of us have that option. (My girlfriend's blonde)
Check out the selection at Lush - They'll have a soap/wash/gel/jelly for everything you could possibly want.
I'd reoccomend a few body washes that are great for summer. You could try Molton Brown Eucalyptus Bath & Shower Gel or really any of that line...silverbirch would be nice for summer too. I'd also reccomend the Anthony Body Cleansing Gel in Citrus or a little bit random, but very good, the "Zirh Body Warrior Shower Gels" :http://www.groominglounge.com/zi-warrior.html
A personal favorite of mine is Dolce and Gabbana "Light Blue". A nice, refreshing, cool scent. http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=259086&PseudoMasterProdID=256691

My ALL TIME FAVORITE summer body wash is definitely the Deep Cleansing Body Wash from the Aromatherapy Distillations line of Crabtree and Evelyn.
The body wash has peppermint in it, so it cools as you wash. The essential oils in the gel mix with the steam of your shower to wake you up in the morning, and it supposedly helps detoxify your skin.
