I'm going through this right now. After about a year of playing around, here's my advice:
Number one thing is I had to accept that I'm balding. I can't make it go away or trick people, I can only work with it.
As far as hairstyle, I went fully bald for a bit. The good news is you really do look like a badass. The bad news is it's a pain to keep up and a little limiting style-wise.
I've settled into a nice buzz-cut with 1/2" clippers. Somehow my hair looks a lot thicker when it's that short.
On the plus side, a little bit of facial stubble still looks great. I'm not one to compensate with a lot of facial hair, though.
Clothing and style was a bit harder to navigate...I didn't want to appear like I'm trying to recapture my youth. I think buying clothes that fit well make a big difference, and avoiding anything that's just too painfully trendy.
More than anything, just be confident. I can pull off a lot more than I expected.
Lastly, a woman gave me the best advice: You can be bald OR you can be out of shape.
Ok, for the love of Buddha, don't try to hide it. The only thing worse than being bald, is being half bald. Get over it, you lost your hair. Don't get plugs, comb over or wear a dead ferret on your head. And don't shave your head with a razor... that makes you look silly. Instead, buy an electric razor/trimmer and take that to your head (no attachment). It leaves a bit stubble, looks bold but not Telly Savalas bold. If you want to look badass, don't shave your face for 4-5 days but do take the trimmer to the head. Throw on a long-coat and some dark glasses and you're guaranteed wide berth. Side note: Guys with shaved head and goatees get kick in the nuts on sight... just saying.
I don't know, my father rocked a pretty convincing comb over for the longest time, held in place with a generous layer of hairspray. He has since gotten rid of it and keeps the side and center patch trimmed neat, but I think he lost a little bit of sophistication in the process.
However if it at any point got wet, then yes, it was a complete disaster.

Watch bollywood movie Ghajni, the actor Aamir Khan has a great style for a balding head
Grow a beard and shave your head. The facial hair will balance out the baldness. Channel your inner Kimbo.
The best thing is to embrace your balding head. Confidence is king. Nothing is stylish about a guy trying to hide or cover up a bald spot.
Yes I have to agree shaving your head is the best thing if your hairline is receding I had to go bald myself and I was only 22 at the time.
Don't hold on to the fringe, you don't have anything on top, so you can't go overboard on the sides. More importantly, if you do have what could be perceived as a full head of hair on the sides, don't hide the top with a hat. The last thing you want to do is hit it off with a woman only to shock her with a chrome dome when you take your hat off.
