Rubbing compound is OK...however they are designed to be very abrasive and requries follow up with a glaze and sealant. Rubbing compounds remain at the same abrasive level the entire time it is applied...usually designed for following up on 1000-1200 wetsanding...for paint correction..
Better/faster/safer to use a modern professional nano style polish that progressively breaks down finer and finer till it disapates. You might want to use a similar pro glaze to follow up if you are a perfectionist...and want the paint to look deep clear and wet. Always finish with a high quality sealant...not ordinary wax.
It is hard to purchase pro forumulas unless of course you have access to trade sources...nothing on the store shelves comes even remotely close to the quality of the finest pro Polishes/glazes/sealants.
