2010 Audi A4 Allroad Quattro

2010 Audi A4 Allroad Quattro

The A4 gets a little more go-anywhere with the 2010 Audi A4 Allroad Quattro ($TBA; Summer 09). The new wagon features Quattro permanent all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance, and a reinforced underbody, letting you cruise the backroads like you do main street. Three engine options will be available at launch — a gasoline engine and two diesels, all turbocharged. Choose from a 211-hp 2.0-liter TFSI, 170-hp 2.0-liter TDI or 240-hp 3.0-liter TDI in six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. [via]

  • 2010 Cadillac SRX

The 2010 Cadillac SRX ($TBA) is the, uh, Cadillac of crossovers. Due to hit showrooms in mid-2009, the all-new 2010 Cadillac SRX features a completely redesigned exterior and is expected to be powered by the CTS' 3.6-liter V6 engine. The next-generation SRX is said to achieve "excellent driving dynamics and wet-weather traction," and appears to be just the right size for those wanting a non-car, non-SUV luxury vehicle.

  • EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles

If you're looking for a way to set up camp in the middle of post-apocalyptic New Jersey, check out EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles ($110,000-$230,000). Available in two models — the Ford F550-based XV-LT or the Jeep Rubicon Unlimited-based XV-JP — these four-wheel-drive powerhouses can get you where you want to go, and utilize solar energy as a primary power source for lights and appliances, removing the need for a noisy generator. The XV-LT is designed for two adults and two children, and offers granite counters, a convection microwave, a king-sized bed, an enclosed shower/bathroom, and more, while the two-person XV-JP offers features like a queen-sized bed, an inside cassette toilet, indoor shower, sink, and cooking facilities, just to name a few.
