It's always nice when a company honors its humble roots without releasing an overpriced, self-congratulatory version of a current product. 2010 Samuel Adams Longshot ($10) is a fine example of getting it right, by giving a nod to Jim Koch's first homebrewed batch of Samuel Adams by giving regular joes — and regular joe employees — a shot at bottling and distributing their own concoctions. This limited edition six-pack will include two bottles each of 2009 Samuel Adams American Homebrew Contest winners Michael Robinson's Old Ale and Ben Miller's Barleywine, as well as two bottles of Employee Homebrew Winner Jeremy White's Saison.
