2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

Trying to mix family-friendliness with full-on fun is always a challenge, but Dodge seems to have a knack for it. The 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 ($TBA) is a perfect example, with its roomy interior, four full-sized doors, 900-watt, 19-speaker Harman Kardon speaker system and full complement of safety features that belie the car's racing tendencies, which include a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 pumping out an estimated 465 horsepower, paddle shifters, 20-inch aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes, aggressive body work, "racetrack" LED tail lamps, and dual exhaust tips. It's good to be the dad.

  • 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG

Who said sedans are boring? The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG ($TBA) is quite possibly the least-tame four-door we've seen this year. Powered by an all-new 5.5-liter biturbo V8 producing up to 550 hp, the CLS63 also boasts a AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed Sports Transmission that helps it go from 0-60 in as little as 4.3 seconds and up to a top speed of 186 mph, as well as 19-inch, five-spoke wheels, 14.2-inch internally ventilated and cross- drilled brakes on all four wheels, optional active LED high-performance headlights, more than a dozen driver assistance systems, and plenty of the other high-tech gear that you'd expect from a top-of-the-line Benz.

  • Hyundai Equus

Hyundai's been aping Mercedes' designs for years, so it's about time they stepped up to the plate with their own luxury effort. The Hyundai Equus ($58,000-$64,500) boasts a smorgasbord of high-end amenities, including a 4.6L V8 engine paired with a six-speed Shiftronic automatic, 19-inch chrome alloy wheels, a lane departure warning system, smart cruise control, HID headlights with LED turn signals, a 608-watt, 17-speaker surround sound system, Bluetooth hands-free, a USB/iPod hookup, a driver seat massage system, and heated/cooled front seats. Step up to the top-of-the-line Equus Ultimate, and you'll also get reclining rear seats, a rear center console refrigerator, an eight-inch rear seat monitor, and cooled rear seats, amongst other goodies. Oh yeah: every Equus also comes with a digital owner's manual, which comes pre-installed on an included iPad.
