A Serious Man

While its auto-biographical origins can certainly be debated, there's little doubt that A Serious Man is in some way a spiritual return to the Coen brothers' home of Minnesota. This dark comedy centers around a college professor named Larry, who experiences a rash of unfortunate, nearly unexplainable events -- not unlike those encountered by the biblical figure Job -- as he attempts to understand why his God has left behind such a pious, serious man.
