A Single Man

A Single Man

We'll admit, we're envious of Tom Ford. Not only does he get to be photographed with some of the world's most gorgeous women — in the nude, no less — and run his own fashion mini-empire, but he's also a hell of a director, as evidenced by A Single Man ($25). Based on the novel by Christopher Isherwood, this exploration of loneliness — and gay culture in the early 1960s — finds leading man Colin Firth at the pinnacle of his powers, portraying a wide range of emotions with an honesty that can't be ignored.
