Bose QuietComfort 3 Headphones

Bose QuietComfort 3 Headphones

When getting ready to travel, you might want to consider exactly how loud an airplane cabin can get. While we prefer in-ear buds, they aren't for everyone — if you're one of the latter, check out the new Bose QuietComfort 3 Headphones ($350). They feature an on-the-ear design that will keep you from getting "headphone hair," and all the Acoustic Noise Canceling goodness of the QuietComfort 2. Unlike the QC2, the QuietComfort 3s feature a rechargeable lithium-ion battery — so make sure you charge up before a long flight.

  • Grado SR60 Headphones

While they may not be the greatest looking headphones in the world — they kinda look like they just stepped out of a 60’s music studio — what they lack in beauty they make up for in outstanding sound quality. The SR60 Headphones from Grado ($70) feature a vented diaphragm, a non-resonant air chamber, and a standard copper voice coil wire — plus they’ve been awarded two Stereophile “Product of the year” awards, and while we love our music and consider ourselves pretty good judges of sound clarity and quality, who are we to argue with them? [Thanks, Cormac]

  • Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro

Ultimate Ears has been making professional in-ear monitors for rock stars for years. Now you can get their stage-worthy sound thanks to the Super.fi 5 Pro earphones ($250). After testing them out for a couple weeks now, we can tell you that they sound excellent and are very much worth the money. They feature dual driver technology — one tiny high frequency speaker and one low frequency speaker — to deliver crystal clear highs and the most bass we've heard out of a pair of in-ear earphones. They pretty much blow away our Etymotic ER6i earphones. The Super.fi 5 Pros are super comfortable thanks to a 5-piece universal fit kit for any ear size. They're available in iPod-matching white or iPod nano-matching black, and come with a cool metallic storage case and a soft leather case. Superb sound quality aside, we always love it when companies don't skimp on the included accessories.
