Canon EOS-1D Mark III

Canon EOS-1D Mark III

Cameras are kind of funny — no matter how many megapixels your pocket shooter has, if you want professional results, you need a professional-style camera. The Canon EOS-1D Mark III ($TBA) is definitely professional. Designed from the ground-up, this 10.1 megapixel beast can shoot up to ten frames per second thanks to the new Dual DIGIC III image processor, and also sports a Live View shooting mode, letting you use the LCD to frame shots just like a point-and-shoot. Add in an integrated cleaning system, a 45-point auto focus system, and an extra-large CMOS sensor, and you've got everything you need to take great photographs.

  • JVC Everio GZ-HD7

The new JVC Everio GZ-HD7 ($TBA; April) lays claim to fame as being the first consumer full high definition 3-CCD camcorder capable of shooting and recording full HD images (1920 x 1080i). This hard drive-based camcorder uses three 1/5-inch 16:9 progressive scan CCDs designed for HD use in a diagonally offset pixel configuration. It also sports a Fujinon lens used in broadcast video cameras and a super high-end processor, among other features.

  • Canon PowerShot G7

The classically styled Canon PowerShot G7 ($527) proves that a digital camera doesn't have to look like it's from the future to deliver best-of-class performance. The G7 offers a 10-megapixel resolution, a 6x optical zoom, and a 2.5-inch LCD. It includes Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer for clear shots, and the DIGIC III Image Processor with Face Detection Technology for superior image quality.
The G7 also offers compatibility with a
number of lenses and flashes for serious
    photography enthusiasts.
