Firefly Water Bottle Light

Firefly Water Bottle Light

Wide-mouth plastic water bottles are a common sight during outdoor adventures, and so are lanterns — but this is the first time we've seen them brought together. The Firefly by Guyot Designs ($22) is an ingenious little device that attaches to the mouth of your water bottle and uses an integrated LED to turn your bottle into a glowing lantern. Luckily, should you have an encounter with any hostile wildlife, the brightness is adjustable.

  • Camelbak Water Bottle

Ever find your trusty Nalgene from college a little too sloppy on your outdoor adventures? Graduate from that old bottle to the Camelbak Water Bottle ($12). Featuring a unique bite-valve that contains no moving parts, you simply bite and sip. It holds around .75 liters of water, fits most cupholders, has a built-in handle that make it handy to attach to a clip or carabiner, is dishwasher safe, and — wait for it — is spill-proof, even when left in the open position. Excellent.

  • Mosquito Mega-Catch

Reclaim your backyard with this hardcore mosquito trap. The Mosquito Mega-Catch ($200) uses a strip of octenol (resembles the scent of breath), a UV bulb, and flashing LEDs to attract the blood-sucking pests, and when they get close an airflow system sucks them inside, where they're collected in a mesh bag or liquid catch pan. An integrated LCD and timer lets you program the machine so the trap operates around the clock or only during the evenings. And with results like these, you know the Mega-Catch is a badass: "In a USDA suburban test, our trap captured up to 1,200 mosquitoes in a single night and diminished mosquito populations over an entire acre." Take that, bitches.
