Flight Attendants

Flight Attendants

If you've ever been on a commercial flight, you've no doubt seen the subjects of this amazing collection of photographs. Flight Attendants by Brian Finke ($23) shows these maids of the skies in and out of uniform, on the job, at school and at home, before, during, and after trips. Instead of glorifying the stereotypes surrounding the profession, Finke instead juxtaposes quiet shots of the attendant's daily lives with the busy, nerve-wracking nature of their jobs.

  • Fray

The mastermind of JPG Magazine is back with a new project, this time with smart, community-submitted stories based around a common theme. Fray ($15 each; $45 yearly) is a quarterly paperback book that's simply filled with excellent and true first-person stories from ordinary folks. The first book's theme is Busted! True Stories of Getting Caught in the Act. Inside, you can find several anecdotes, including our favorite, one about a bank robber who got beat by technology.

  • The Star Wars Vault

No, it's not a storage solution for all your Star Wars-related junk. The Star Wars Vault: Thirty Years of Treasures from the Lucasfilm Archives ($55) is an inside look at the development and marketing of all six movies, including the large cultural impact of the series. Absolutely packed full of photos, artwork, and interactive pieces of memorabilia, the set includes everything from Lucas' hand-written treatment for The Empire Strikes Back to a vintage T-shirt transfer to an audio recording of Carrie Fisher signing in the Star Wars Holiday Special.
