Useful in a wide variety of situations from camping to self defense, an outstanding knife belongs in every man's toolkit. The Kershaw Ken Onion Red Blur Folding Knife ($55) fits the bill nicely. Measuring only 4.5-inches when closed, the Kershaw features a 3-3/8-inch 440A stainless steel blade with a "SpeedSafe" design. Although it's not a switchblade (which is illegal in most places), it works very much like one. Push the thumb-stud on the blade past the handle, and the torsion bar takes over, springing the knife open smoothly where it locks into position. The handle is made of red anodized aluminum with Trac-Tec. There's a completely black model ($54) as well as a Tactical version ($60) which features a partially serrated Tanto blade.
