Kodak's new EasyShare P712 digital camera ($500; July) is a nice step up from the pocket point-and-shoots, offering more control and performance, but the same ease of use. The 7.1 megapixel camera features an image-stabilized 12x zoom, Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon lens, and a super fast auto-focus system with a click-to-capture rate that's literally faster than the blink of an eye (less than 1/10th of a second). The P712 also features a 2.5-inch LCD and electronic viewfinder, 30 frames-per-second VGA video with sound, and basic on-camera video editing. [via]
