As much as we love our New Balance 991 — this particular Uncrater has sported them since 2001 — we have to admit that these New Balance 8505 ($85) are tempting. The NB Zip cushioning in the heel helps you keep your bouncing stride, while Abzorb SBS cushioning in the forefoot offers robust shock absorption. Steve's shoes they're not, but sometimes even he needs a change of pace.
