After a five year hiatus, 2D, Murdoc, Russel, and Noodle — better known as the cartoon band the Gorillaz — are back with a new album. Plastic Beach by Gorillaz ($10) was recorded on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, or so the story goes, although we're not sure how they managed to keep its location a secret with all the guest artists stopping by, including Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, Mos Def, Bobby Womack, Gruff Rhys, De La Soul, and others. Expect a fusion of different sounds, a surprising amount of strings, and plenty of funk — pretty much standard Gorillaz, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
