It takes a really special wine to be great without a little bit of help — whether it be from cheese, a crispy cracker, or a meal — but Ruffino's Gold Label Chianti ($45) is exactly that. Here’s a bit of a description: “In the mouth, it is rich, complex and elegant, with excellent fruit-acid balance and remarkable depth and length.” Cool! The 2000 vintage is very good, but if you buy yours out in the wild and can’t find that particular year, don’t fret — we’ve tried every vintage from ‘86 up to this and haven’t been dissappointed yet.
