It seems amazing that this simple film, based on a Stephen King novella, was released 25 years ago... until you realize who's in it. Stand By Me ($18) tells the story of four friends — Wil Wheaton, the late River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, and an endearingly plump Jerry O'Connell — who encounter a variety of adventures as they search for the body of a dude who's gone missing in the Oregon woods. Sure, it's a somewhat typical growing-up buddy movie, but that never stopped you before.
