Jamey Johnson writes hit songs for the likes of George Straight and Trace Adkins. Huge, poppy country hits. But his own Waylon-esque recordings are immensely darker and insanely authentic. That Lonesome Song ($10) has a pure outlaw sound that just might save country music. The radio-unfriendly fare is less of a breath of fresh air as it is a mouthful of dirt. Standout tracks: "In Color" and "High Cost of Living".
