The Toshiba Portege R400 ($2,600-$3,500) is a new convertible laptop that can be quickly positioned in notebook or tablet mode. It automatically synchronizes your e-mail and calendar events with Microsoft's Active Notifications, and sports Toshiba's Edge Display, a tiny secondary display located on the front edge of the R400 for monitoring your inbox and calendar activity. The R400 has a scratch-resistant ultraviolet clear-coat case and a super bright 12.1inch backlit LED wide-screen.
