Behind the Scenes of Ghost in the Shell

Computer generated effects might get all the press when a film is released, but practical effects — puppets, animatronics, costumes — are better than ever. They can even rival their digital brethren for realism, and keep the audience out of the uncanny valley. Adam Savage visited Weta Workshop in New Zealand, where Richard Taylor gave him a look at the props and animatronics used for the upcoming movie Ghost in the Shell.
