Hanging off a cliffside, Yakusha Design envisions a weightless holiday home for a surfer. The glass box is anchored to its rocky plot by a concrete pedestal and secured with a recycled concrete foundation. Internally, the central pillar contains the engineering and communication systems allowing the living spaces to flow freely throughout the 500-square foot space. Enveloped in glazing, the cantilevering volume creates the illusion of floating in air while affording 270-degree panoramas of the coastal landscape. Rooms are dressed in neutral hues and minimal furnishings to ensure the views remain the main focus, and integrated shade offer privacy when it's needed.
