Apple Store Marina Bay Sands

Apple has officially revealed what they call their "most ambitious retail project." Floating on the surface of Singapore's Marina Bay, the structure marks the company's first Apple Store to sit directly on the water. The store itself is housed in a dome made from 114 pieces of glass connected by 10 narrow vertical mullions, allowing customers to experience 360-degree views of the skyline while they shop. A Pantheon-inspired oculus at the top of the sphere washes the interior with natural light while custom baffles counter the sun angles to provide a nighttime lighting effect. A row of trees around the perimeter echoes the Garden City's surrounding landscapes and provides visitors with shade. Along with tables of products and accessories, a video wall acts as a stage for Today at Apple sessions hosting local artists, musicians, and creators. A lower level contains an underwater boardroom for entrepreneurs and developers to meet with Apple team members for training and advice. Equipped with 148 team members speaking over 23 languages, the Apple Store Marina Bay Sands is slated to open by appointment only on Thursday, September 10th at 10 a.m. SGT.
