Located on a private ski club at Ontario's Blue Mountain ski area, the Alta Chalet is a modern alternative to the traditional Alpine cabin. The simple form and pitched roof are modeled after classic farmhouses found throughout the area. A blackened Canadian Pine cladding creates a contemporary facade that stands out against the fallen snow, while a contrasting white timber volume provides a sheltered entryway. To maximize views of the mountainous landscape, the interior carries and unconventional layout. The bedrooms and sauna occupy the ground floor, allowing the main living area to sit above and take advantage of the surrounding scenery.
