Mills Residence

Emerging out of a steep, rocky hillside, the Mills Residence is the embodiment of International Style. Built in 1955 by architect Willis N. Mills, the structure sits as two rectilinear volumes, cantilevered on a jagged ridge in New Canaan, Connecticut. Redwood planks help to disguise the home amongst its wooded setting, while large glazed panels welcome in natural light and views of the forest floor. Internally, the ground floor hosts an updated kitchen, dining room, and double height living area, leaving the more private spaces to occupy the upper level. Sliding glass doors are featured in nearly every room granting access to a series of terraces and decks, Japanese gardens, and a stone-lined pool.
