Porsche Design P'6612 Dashboard Le Mans 1970 Watch

Porsche Design P'6612 Dashboard Le Mans 1970 Watch

Racing aficionados may already be familiar, but Porsche's unprecedented 16 wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans started in 1970, with Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood behind the wheel of a 917 K. The Porsche Design P'6612 Dashboard Le Mans 1970 Watch ($TBA) pays homage to this win with a dial styled after the car's instrumentation, a perforated calfskin strap with red stitching like the steering wheel, the car's number 23 on the face, a brushed, polished titanium case, automatic chronograph movement, and tachometer scale. Fittingly, only 917 will be made, each including a scale model of the 917 K and a booklet signed by the race winners themselves.

  • MB&F HM4 Thunderbolt Watch

From the same minds that brought you the Frog Watch — otherwise known as Horological Machine No. 3 — comes the MB&F HM4 Thunderbolt Watch ($TBA), yet another piece of wrist-worn art masquerading as a timepiece. Also known as Horological Machine No. 4, the Thunderbolt sports a jet-inspired design with turbine-like pods for the time and power reserve, connected to the power reserve via unique vertical gear trains. In fact, each of the 311 components — including the titanium case, regulator, and even the screws — were developed specifically for this watch. It's finished off with a black hand-stitched calfskin strap with a custom designed titanium and white gold buckle.

  • Breitling Chronospace Watch

It might seem a little silly in the modern age of do-everything smartphones and gadgets, but don't tell that to the folks at Breitling. Packing as many functions as you can reasonably fit into such a small area, the Breitling Chronospace Watch ($TBA) boasts features like a 1/100th of a second chronograph with dual time zone display, split times, alarm, 24-hour military time, a countdown function, a perpetual calendar, Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), a slide rule, night vision goggle-compatible LCD screens, a star-shaped bezel, a Breitling SuperQuartz movement, and double caseback construction for louder audible signals. Available in several dial colors, and with your choice of one of two rubber straps, a leather strap, or the chain mail-inspired satin-brushed woven steel seen above.
