The Playboy Mansion

You've dreamt of going there. Now you can own the joint. The Playboy Mansion is up for sale, with a price tag to match its reputation. As you probably already know, the six-bedroom 1927 tudor has a theater, a game room, a gym, a huge kitchen, and a zoo. It also has a swimming pool with a Grotto so notorious it has its own listing on Google Maps (just search for "STD water") and a four-bedroom guest house. No Bunnies are included with the sale, unfortunately, but rumor is that if you want to let Hef live out the rest of his life there, he wouldn't be opposed. Smoking jacket negotiable.

  • Slaughterhouse Beach House

Designed by Olson Kundig and formerly owned by renowned landscape photographer Peter Lik, the Slaughterhouse Beach House is a stunning mix of architecture and natural beauty. The home is perched on a West Maui cliff and split into three connected huts, one for guests, one for the bedrooms, and one for the main living area. The latter is notable for its twin window walls that lift up and out of the way at the push of a button, opening the space to the sea on one side and the mountains on the other, and the enormous kitchen counter that extends out through the space and onto the Brazilian hardwood deck. Each one of the huts benefits from the shape of their corrugated, zinc-coated aluminum roofs, which were formed to use the constant breeze as a vacuum, sucking hot air out and letting cool air in. Yet it's the surrounding landscape that's the real star, especially the world-class views of the sun setting over Moloka'i, and the rocky shoreline below.

  • Cocoon Cabin

480 square feet may not sound like much, but with smart storage options and floor-to-ceiling windows, the Cocoon Cabin feels larger than it is. The standard floor plan has a combined living, dining, and kitchen area, a single bedroom that doubles as an office, a tile-walled bathroom, and clean lines throughout. It uses a mix of bamboo, wood, matte laquer, and bronze finishes, and while the small footprint is eco-friendly on its own, the home is designed to accept features like solar panels and roof gardens to further lessen your environmental impact. Can be up and ready for use in under a week upon delivery.
