Wiley House

Considering it's now a historic landmark and only open for guided tours, owning Philip Johnson's iconic Glass House is out of the question. But the architect's Wiley House is the next best thing. Like its legendary predecessor, the main living area is clad in 15-foot windows and steel. The rectangular glass pavilion sits on top of a stone foundation, housing the four bedrooms, bathrooms, and sitting room. Since its 1952 construction, a 19th-century barn on the six-acre property has been renovated into an art gallery and a poolhouse and garage have been added. The new additions create a courtyard around the original circular pool and its red lily pad diving platform, concealing it from the surrounding hickories.
