CAMPout House

Situated among a grove of 100-year-old Jeffrey pine trees, the CAMPout House offers an industrial retreat in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The home is partially embedded into a hillside and features a facade made from eight-inch concrete walls, while a slanted steel roof creates a shed-like profile. Internally, cedar-lined walls and ceilings provide a warm contrast to the monolithic exterior, basalt floors reference the rugged boulders that occupy the property, and blackened steel casework frame floor-to-ceiling windows. Additional glazing connect living spaces to a central courtyard, where a fire pit replicates the same atmosphere found at a rural campsite.
