Given her storied career, it's hard to believe Dame Zaha Hadid only had one private residence design built in her lifetime: Capital Hill House. Designed in collaboration with her client Vladislav Doronin — owner of the luxury resort chain Aman, among other ventures — it's as striking as any large-scale building she created. At Doronin's request, the master suite is set over 70 feet above the ground on a slender stalk, with floor-to-ceiling glazing offering unfettered views of the Russian forest and sky. Below, the rest of the home is spread across three undulating floors with large overhangs. The first floor houses the entrance, guest and children's bedrooms, and library, while a lounge, living room, kitchen, entertaining spaces, and pool are on the ground floor. Leisure facilities occupy the lowest level, serving as a fitting base for a man Hadid referred to as the "Russian James Bond."
