Casa Atibaia

Inspired by Lina Bo Bardi's Casa de Vidro, designers Charlotte Taylor and Nicholas Préaud imagine a dreamy home enveloped by jungle views. The dwelling is built on the banks of the Atibaia River in São Paulo. A prime example of Brazilian modernism, its geometric form is created by white concrete planes held up by walls of glass. The glazed walls nearly erase the boundaries between the interior and the surrounding vegetation while softening the brutalist nature of the accompanying material. To further incorporate the landscape, natural elements like the existing rocks are used as accent walls and furnishings, coexisting with a collection of contemporary and antique furniture.
