In the dense forest of Chile, Ruben Munoz Rodriguez completes a sustainable family refuge. Casa El llano sits lightly on the land, causing little disruption to the natural environment and native vegetation. Its horizontal timber facade fades into the background with a dark brown hue from a carbolineum treatment, keeping a low profile among the surrounding trunks. Internally, the wood cladding is stained white, creating a bright, airy atmosphere. Large panels of glazing frame views of the landscape while washing the interior with natural light. To reduce its ecological footprint, the home takes advantage of eco-friendly systems and uses ab autonomous sewage system, solar panels for power, and collects drinking water from local springs.
