Situated on a former vineyard in Switzerland's Comano Hills, DF_DC's Concrete Villa is inspired by its geometric site. The form of the dwelling takes after the plot's elongated trapezoid shape. To conceal the interior from neighboring homes to the north and south, the volume is defined by a monolithic wall. The barrier was created using the traditional technique of strollato — a combination of pebbles and cement — while a series of rectangular fins give the facade added texture. At the rear of the volume, a sculpted pavilion extends out to surround an outdoor terrace and pool. Internally, polished concrete floors and white walls create a minimalist backdrop for a collection of contemporary black furnishings.
