Dragonfly Pavilion

Resting in a backyard garden, the Dragonfly Pavilion is inspired by the wings of its flying namesake. The rectangular structure serves as an outdoor space for a Hoboken townhouse, acting as a connector between the exterior terrace and the garden. Its walls are made from intricate patterns reminiscent of a dragonfly's wings. The geometric detailing is formed by sustainably harvested and FSC-certified Sapele mahogany woven between a recycled aluminum frame. Screen inserts keep the insects at bay while still allowing natural light to flow through. Fitted with a built-in bench, the shelter can easily transition from a dining room to a reading nook or a yoga studio as desired. The entire project was prefabricated off-site and assembled on the property in less than a week.
