Designed by CHROFI, the Hawks Nest Courtyard House is a modern interpretation of Australia's rural vernacular. The home is situated in Mungo Brush on a small sandy clearing dotted with native vegetation. It's made of prefabricated modules that sit lightly on the land and are clad in a bleached timber facade. It features an expanded veranda that doubles as an outdoor living space, while a sliding screen creates a courtyard. Sliding glass doors provide direct access to the garden and allow sunlight and views of the surrounding landscape to take over the interior. Operating completely off-grid, the property uses solar panels, harvests rainwater, and uses passive systems to cool the interior naturally.
