Hill House

Making use of natural materials found on the property, the Hill House cuts into a Winthrop hillside to create a sustainable mountain retreat. The exterior is clad in a mix of recycled steel and sustainably harvested wood, while gabion stone walls taken from excavation blends into the rocky plot. Glazed walls wrapped around three sides of the home flood the interior with natural light and provide unspoiled views of the Washington landscape. A sunken fire pit sits in the middle of a large stepped platform that is sheltered by oversized eaves, providing an outdoor escape during warmer months.
