House on the Mist
Built in the shadows of the architect's childhood home, House on the Mist is a modest retreat in the mountains of Colombia. The cabin acts as a rural weekend getaway from the busy capital. Clad in pine, the timber has been treated with a traditional technique for waterproofing fishing boats. giving the exterior a black hue and a eucalyptus scent. Its interior consists of just a kitchen, bathroom, living area, and lofted bedroom lined in warm wood paneling. While a glass-brick window filters in natural sunlight, carefully placed teak-trimmed glazing frames in views of the San Rafael reservoir and the surrounding Andes mountains.
