Illinois Creek Ranch
Inspired by the traditional farmsteads of Flint Hills, the Illinois Creek Ranch is a modern take on the vernacular architecture of Kansas' tallgrass prairie. The home is made up of four wings, each resembling a classic farmhouse with their simple, rectangular forms and pitched roofs. Dark cedar cladding and corrugated metal roofs unify the structures while limestone details pay homage to the native landscape. These volumes are connected by a pair glass atriums with green roofs. The linear layout allows the buildings to take advantage of wind and sun patterns, while also providing exceptional views of the surrounding pastures.
